The Community at Thomas Philipot's Almshouse Charity

Events and Activities

Thomas Philipot's Almshouses is a residential community with a hall and gardens used for many social activities. These include keep fit, bingo, film nights, visiting entertainment and coffee mornings. Each summer the Almshouses are open to the public for a Summer Sale, which helps to raise funds to pay towards the residents' activities. Residents are also able to partake in occasional excursions.

Hall and Gardens

The hall, known as the Shuttleworth Room after a former Trustee, was built in 1983 and is the focal point for the all-year entertainment. The beautiful gardens are well tended by the gardener and plenty of seating allows residents to sit out in the summer and enjoy the company of other residents.

Neighbourhood

The Almshouses are a short walk to Eltham High Street, which is well served with local shops, churches, leisure centre and library. Many bus routes go through the High Street and the train station is a 15 minute walk or short bus ride away. Additional information can be found by clicking on the link to www.thisiseltham.co.uk.
